Chemicals or hazardous/contaminated materials used by contractors will be evaluated by the Environmental Health & Safety Department to determined if they pose a health hazard and what precautions should be taken when using or storing the materials on campus. It is the responsibility of the project manager and EH&S to evaluate these materials by reviewing the Material Safety Data Sheets on the products. Prior to the start of a project the contractor must submit a MSDS on all materials that will be used during the course of the project. This provision is outlined in the Rice University General Conditions contract.
