Bloodborne Pathogen Program
Rice University's bloodborne pathogens (BBP) standard protects employees who work in occupations where they are at risk of exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials.
Rice University has a continuing commitment to provide a safe environment for its employees and visitors. This is accomplished through various university policies and requirements. Specifically, the OSHA mandated Exposure Control Plan, is limited to reducing employees' exposure to bloodborne pathogens and is not intended as a comprehensive guide to infection control.
Requirements for researchers who work with human and non-human primate’s fluids, tissues or cells (including cell lines):
- General Lab Safety Course
- Bloodborne Pathogens Training
- Hepatitis B Vaccination Form
