Biological Material Committees

Three committees oversee the use of biological materials at Rice University. The Institutional Review Board (IRB) oversees research involving human subjects. The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) oversees the responsible use of animals in research. The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) oversees research involving recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules in accordance with the NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant or Synthetic Nucleic Acids. If you wish to engage in research involving human subjects, animals or synthetic and recombinant nucleic acids, please submit a protocol to the appropriate committee.
