Hot Work Permit
A hot work permit must be issued anytime hot work (welding, cutting, brazing) occurs inside a Rice facility. The contractor or maintenance personnel should contact EHS prior to beginning work to have the fire alarm system placed on test. Failure to do so may cause a fire alarm and any cost incurred will be passed to the contractor or department.
Any project manager or EHS personnel may issue the permit. A minimum of 24 hours notice is required prior to request.
Refer to the hot work permit for instructions and requirements.
